About Us
What Is The Purpose of The Consortium
The broadly practiced approach to medical research and clinical trials in this country has been to focus on the majority population, then try to retrofit how the findings affect minority populations of black and brown people. This approach is both too time consuming and ineffective.
For example, when researchers want to understand why people living in so called “blue zones” have a longer life expectancy, researchers go to those geographical areas to determine from those relatively small populations what they can learn about why their longevity is longer.
Likewise, an overwhelming number of the major diseases and adverse medical conditions present in the US occur disproportionally to black and brown people. Therefore, it makes sense and is a long-established scientific process to focus research and clinical trials on the populations most affected, and then apply the findings to others.
Honing the focus of research and clinical trials on these populations can yield more accurate and pertinent results while decreasing the time it takes to implement findings and recommendations.
The consortium is an extension platform for other consortium relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with an emphasis on Black Health and Clinical trials that can enhance their outcomes in the search for preventions, treatments, and cures.
This platform encourages and provides the capacity for awareness of projects, connecting on interest, enhancing and advancing progress, exploring collaborations, and visual conferencing while sharing intellect, resources, and the vision for preventions, treatments, and cures.
Hence, the purpose of the Consortium for Black Health Research and Clinical Trials.
